Tennessee Highway Safety Office Partners with Sumner County for Halloween Press Event
Drunk-Driving Law Enforcement Initiative Hopes to Scare You Safe
 
SUMNER COUNTY – On Wednesday, October 26, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) will host a press event at Volunteer State Community College alongside the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Sumner County law enforcement partners to announce “Operation Scared Safe.” This multi-jurisdictional initiative will run from Thursday, October 27, through Monday, October 31, to help prevent drunk-driving related crashes, injuries, and fatalities during the Halloween weekend. 
 
As of October 21, 2016, Sumner County has lost 17 lives to traffic crashes this year, according to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s TITAN Division. This time last year, that number was 9. THSO, THP and local partners will address the recent spike in traffic crashes and fatalities during Wednesday’s press event. Details are listed below.
