Tennessee Highway Safety Office Launches “Click It or Ticket” Campaign in Jackson on May 15

MEMPHIS – On Monday, May 15, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) will be joined by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Memphis Police Department, Jackson Police Department, and other traffic safety partners for a press event in Jackson to launch the THSO’s “Click It or Ticket” campaign. From May 22 to June 4, participating agencies will increase seat belt enforcement in 21 counties across West Tennessee.

According to Tennessee’s Integrated Traffic Analysis Network (TITAN), 70 vehicle occupants killed in West Tennessee traffic crashes last year were not restrained. In an effort to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities, law enforcement will promote seat belt usage through high visibility enforcement, nighttime seat belt enforcement, saturation patrols, community outreach, and occupant protection education. Increased saturation patrols will be conducted on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27. Event details are listed below.
