Tennessee Highway Safety Office Announces Award Winners of Law Enforcement Challenge
73 Agencies Compete, Tennessee Highway Patrol Receives National Recognition
TENNESSEE – Today, September 9, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) announced the award winners of its 12th Annual Law Enforcement Challenge in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Every year, THSO hosts the Challenge to honor law enforcement agencies across Tennessee for extraordinary efforts in traffic safety.
“We’re honored to host this event,” said THSO Interim Director Jason Ivey. “We take pride in recognizing law enforcement for their outstanding achievements. The Law Enforcement Challenge reflects our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.”
73 Law Enforcement Challenge applications were submitted: 24 from West Tennessee, 19 from East Tennessee, 17 from Middle Tennessee, 13 from the Cumberland Region, and one submission from each of the Tennessee Highway Patrol districts. Applicants competed for award recognition, prizes, and a chance to win a fully equipped police vehicle.
Tennessee law enforcement agencies received recognition on the state level in categories broken down by agency size. The Special Category Awards honored agencies that excelled in distinctive areas of traffic safety, including categories like “Rookie of the Year,” “Impaired Driving Awareness,” “Underage Alcohol Prevention,” and more. Tennessee Highway Patrol earned national recognition from the International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Challenge in three major categories: First Place State Police – Highway Patrol with 501 to 1,500 Officers; Traffic Incident Management; and Technology.
