TENNESSEE HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE JOINS CUMBERLAND REGION TO ADDRESS INCREASE IN FATAL CRASHES
COOKEVILLE – On Friday, March 10, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office will join the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Cookeville Police Department, and AAA – The Auto Club Group for a press event to address traffic safety issues in the Cumberland region. According to Tennessee’s Integrated Traffic Analysis Network (TITAN), there were 49 total fatal crashes in Putnam County from 2020 to 2022. Contributing factors include different forms of driver error that could be prevented with safe driving habits. Common issues include excessive tailgating, reckless driving, distractions, and more. Speakers will offer traffic safety tips and announce upcoming enforcement efforts to prevent future crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
