The National Association of Counties (NACo), the only national
organization that represents county governments in the United States, is
a full-service organization that provides legislative, research, technical
and public affairs assistance to its members. The association acts as a
liaison with other levels of government, works to improve public understanding
of counties, serves as a national advocate for counties and provides them
with resources to help them find innovative methods to meet the challenges
they face. |

nonprofit, membership organization serving the interests of regional councils

The National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT) is
"the voice of America's grassroots governments" and the only national association
devoted exclusively to smaller, hometown government. NATaT's purpose is
to strengthen the effectiveness of towns, townships and small communities
in the U.S. and to promote their interests in the public and private sectors.
As a non-profit membership association, NATaT provides technical assistance,
educational services and public policy support to local government officials
for more than 13,000 grassroots communities throughout the US, as well as
to national policymakers, academicians, business leaders and others interested
in the health and vitality of America's small town governments |

The United States Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan
organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are about
1,050 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the
Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor. |

National Conference of State
Legislatures |

The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan
organization dedicated to serving the lawmakers and staffs of the nation's
50 states, its commonwealths and territories. The Conference is a source
for research, publications, consulting services, meetings and seminars.
It is the national conduit for lawmakers to communicate with one another
and share ideas. The Conference is an effective and respected voice for
the states in Washington, D.C., representing their interests before Congress,
the administration and federal agencies. |

National Governors' Association

The National Governors' Association (NGA) is the only bipartisan
national organization of, by, and for the nation's Governors. Through NGA,
the Governors identify priority issues and deal collectively with issues
of public policy and governance at both the national and state levels. The
association's mission is to provide a forum for Governors to exchange views
and experiences among themselves; assistance in solving state focused problems;
information on state innovations and practices; and a bipartisan forum for
Governors to establish, influence, and implement policy on national issues. |

National League of Cities |

The National League of Cities (NLC) is the country's largest
and most representative organization serving municipal governments. Acting
on behalf of local governments, NLC's goals include influencing national
policy and building understanding and support for cities and towns. Through
a wide range of programs and services, NLC assists local leaders in their
jobs as policymakers and public servants. |
