BROWSER COMPATIBILITY INFO
Which browser should I use while on this site?
This site is best viewed in Google Chrome (PC), but TTSRS supports the following web browsers:

Why should you care about browser compatibility?
  • Web browsers translate code to display web pages. Individual browsers and versions of those browsers (including browsers using different computer operating systems) read the code differently and display web pages differently. This could cause you to miss something on the page or something might not work correctly on your browser.

  • Each browser has its own individual issues (bugs, quirks, errors). Some browsers will/will not work with some plug ins (like media players), etc.

  • If you have an older version of Internet Explorer, some of the available items on the latest Internet Explorer version may not work at all. (You can't see them.)

  • These differences below can shatter the design of the web page leading to a risk that individuals miss important information on the web page:

    • Fonts (font size, font face, font color, etc.) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) may display differently on each browser. CSS affects the look and format of web pages. CSS specifications are maintained by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

    • Many people enlarge their font size on their own computers to reduce eye strain.

    • Everyone has a different sized screen and/or screen resolution on their computer/laptop which can also interfere with web page design. Note: TTSRS designs web pages to the industry standard of an 800-pixel PC computer screen.

WEB ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible Web design provides benefits to both those using assistive technology, as well as others. It provides benefit to users with text-based browsers, low-end processors, slow modem connections, or users who do not have state-of-the-art computer equipment. It also allows for easier access to the Internet via technologies such as internet-enabled phones or personal digital assistants.

Tennessee executive branch agency Web sites are subject to the same accessible Web standards as federal agencies. Section 508 of the Federal Register establishes requirements for federal electronic and information technology, and the federal Access Board has issued the standards to meet those requirements.

We are committed to making TTSRS accessible to all users and we have included several features designed to improve accessibility for all users. We welcome comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities.

If you use assistive technology and the format of any material prevents your ability to access the information, please contact us at TTSRS@utk.edu or call us at 1.800.99BELTS (2.3587) for assistance. In order to respond in a manner most helpful to you, please note the nature of your accessibility concern, the preferred format in which to receive the online material, the Web page address of the requested material, and the best way to contact you.

Hard copy documents are available for those unable to access or view the downloadable files on this Web site. Simply contact us by e-mail or phone to make your request.
