The Tennessee Traffic Safety Resource Service, (TTSRS), directed by Karen Simerly, is a statewide resource service where traffic safety educators, program providers, professionals, law enforcement, safety advocates and individuals can get quick, current, and FREE educational materials and information to assist them in their fight against community and statewide traffic safety issues. TTSRS promotes and provides materials for many national safety education and enforcement campaigns such as: Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, Buckle Up America Campaigns, Campaign Safe and Sober, National Drunk & Drugged Driving Prevention Month, Walk Your Children to School Campaign, and so forth.

TTSRS is designed to assist the Governor's Highway Safety Office (GHSO) achieve its goals of increasing safety belts and child restraint use, lowering crash fatalities and injuries, lowering economic and human suffering costs, reducing impaired driving, and reducing aggressive driving by continuing to provide statewide traffic safety information and educational assistance to raise public awareness of traffic safety needs within Tennessee.

The Tennessee Traffic Safety Resource Service is funded by a grant through the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Governor Highway Safety Office and through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The service is located at the University of Tennessee's Center for Transportation Research office in Knoxville.

  • traffic safety statistical information (seat belt surveys etc.)
  • appropriate organizational referrals
