  GHSO Announces "2009 TN Lifesavers & Law Challenge" Winners
       
  The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Governor's Highway Safety Office (GHSO) held the 22nd Annual Tennessee Lifesavers Conference and 5th Annual Law Enforcement Challenge this past August in Nashville. GHSO presented over 60 awards at the conference. Ten were given out at the Lifesaver's Conference and the remaining 55 awards were given out at the Law Challenge on August 28th.   • No one seat is the �best� or �safest.� - The best seat is the one that fits your child�s age and size, is correctly installed, fits well in your vehicle and can be used properly every time you drive.

A packed pre-conference session allowed attentive child passenger safety technicians and instructors to hear 12 manufacturers' representatives present the newest in their child restraint technology. Innovative technology features in various child restraint models include but are not limited to:

  • new construction methods, such as steel rods in the shell to prevent twisting motion

  Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Schools      
         
 

Alert! The November 10 - 20, 2009 DRE School has been rescheduled to March 1 - 12, 2010 at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. Please email Richard Holt with any questions at rm_holt@frontiernet.net

The Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) Program has received national acclaim for its success in identifying the drug-impaired driver. Officers trained as Drug Recognition Experts (DREs) are frequently called upon to differentiate between drug influence and medical and/or mental disorders and are an extremely valuable tool in combating the adverse impact of drug and alcohol impaired driving in our communities.
