NHTSA AND GHSO REGION 4 LAW ENFORCEMENT LIAISON CONFERENCE

GENERAL INFORMATION

On February 17 & 18, 2009, join us in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for NHTSA's Southeast Regional Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) Conference. The purpose of the conference is to discuss southeast regional highway safety issues and introduce goals for 2009.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM TOPICS

Outline the plans for specific projects intended to improve mobilization efforts and increase safety belt usage rates regionally
Provide the best practice methods relative to the impaired driving initiative
Agenda items will reflect on leadership, productivity, and the prosecutor liaison position
Conference highlight - training session on “Traffic Occupant Protection Strategies (TOPS)”

TENTATIVE CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17th -

01:00pm Workshop Begins
Evening - Black Bear Jamboree Dinner and Show (Discounted Special $23.00) Each attendee is responsible for their own admission. Arrive by 5:20pm for dinner and show which begins at 6:00pm. Please wear very casual attire.

TRAVELING BY AIR :
Upon arrival to Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport, the conference attendee will need to rent a car to continue on to Gatlinburg. (The airport is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to Gatlinburg. Please allow extra time for traffic congestion.)

Due to Knoxville's Tennessee Department of Transportation's (TDOT) Smart Fix 40 project, please check with the car rental agency for the best driving directions to Gatlinburg.
